BIG EXAM

This was the day of Peter’s big 9 multiple-choice question exam over the information that was presented over the last 5 months. That seemed so strange to me to wait so long before the exam, but evidently it is quite normal here. Peter reported that he had no idea how he did. They’ll get results in a few days.

DINNER IN CARMAGNOLA!

Peter went to a beer class - 8 tastings - this morning. I really don’t think he likes beer that much, because he told me that he was going to take tomorrow ‘s beer continuation off and go to the hospital for my cast removal appointment with me. Then, he’s finishing his plans to get to the stage locations in a car. He’s renting a car in the afternoon, since our French car can’t go in  Croatia and Bosnia, and so I won’t have to drive him to the airport Saturday morning. He’s flying to avoid the bus going to those countries. He’ll meet them there with another rental car to follow the bus while there, then fly back to Milan to get the car I will hopefully be able to drive to the airport for my trip to Atlanta. It’s gotten quite complicated, but I think he’s worked it out now. NOT!

Right before our Italian class, Peter discovered that all his travel plans were for naught. He actually could take our leased French Renault into Croatia and Bosnia, and he started working furiously to cancel his flight and rental car reservations before the 24-hour deadline was up. In fact, in the middle of our class, Peter had some other epiphany and spent the rest of our Italian time on the computer. He worked on it at home some more, and we were only 20 minutes late leaving for dinner in Carmagnol. But, as Luca replied to my text, “Don’t worry!”

The evening was spectacular. Lisa invited us back to Carmagnola for dinner in the restaurant over her family’s Queen Café. As we arrived, Lisa, Luca, Andy and Lisa’s brother – also named Luca - were waiting with some other friends at the café tables outside at the front door. In the streets of Carmagnola, the Sagre dei Peperoni was still going strong. Eventually (Nobody’s in a hurry except Americans!) Andy left with some other friends to run an errand, and Lisa and our Luca took us into the lovely restaurant above the café. They were very accommodating there, and we feasted on shrimp, meat filled bell peppers, fish and spinach. We learned that their definition of, “I’m full,” was, “You choose our dessert!” How could we resist those light and tiny nocciola meringue sweets?  We hope to come back there someday soon with Luca and Lisa.

Thanks for a tremendous evening, Lisa and Luca!

What? No pictures? I promise I’ll do better.
