Today is Cati’s birthday, so we decided to celebrate in style. We hope you enjoy the description and pictures, Cati! Peter and I decided today that we haven’t visited enough new and different places recently, so after my umbrella walk in the rain around the perimeter of the town, we got reservations for lunch at La Coccinella in Serravalle Langhe, just 40 minutes away, Tizano was our waiter, and we learned that he and his 2 brothers own and run the restaurant. GREAT job, guys!
It was a charming, old (of course) house that was decorated in a refined, country style; and we ate recipes that we never had before…chicken salad (cooked guinea fowl bits) on a bed of cooked, minced vegetables surrounded by slivers of truffle; tomato turine that honestly tasted like VERY tender roast beef; mushroom tagliatelli, and dark chocolate covered nociola creamed canolies with pistaccio gelato to complete Cati’s birthday celebration from afar. We wish you could have been there, Cati! All we could do was purr and say, “Yum!”
The drive back was…traditional Italian! Enjoy the pictures.
