PETER’S BACK IN SCHOOL
Peter found out yesterday that he had articles to read to start back to school today, so he spent most of the day…reading novels! I have to admit, I didn’t see the logic, but he always gets his job done well. I didn’t worry about him and went on my way writing, washing clothes, walking, learning Italian and generally trying to keep from disturbing him.
Then, Monday morning, Peter had the morning off before class started at 1. He seemed well prepared by the time he left, and I took off walking. It had been raining very hard early, but by afternoon there were just light showers. I was fine with my rain jacket and an umbrella.
I finally found the office in the hospital where I could pick up my x-rays from last Thursday and pay the bill – 17 euro again! I told Enzo that the reason I go to the hospital instead of a doctor’s office is because it’s practically free. He told me it’s free anywhere, unless you go to a specialist…that’s why I was paying 17 euro... I had to see an orthopedist. I thought that’s a very good plan.
The BigStore was my next destination, and I bought only a few things, since I would have to carry them on my walk home. Then, a most amazing thing happened…the rain got very heavy again, and I looked around for a place to duck in out of the rain. I was standing directly in front of Fiori del Panna Gelato Shop! Who would have thought that would happen? I immediately ducked in and put my parcels down. There was only standing room inside, but their gelato made it well worth standing around and watching the rain let up while I had a cone of THE BEST straciatella and coffee gelato. Yuuuuuummmmmy!

ITALIAN LESSONS RESUME
I started this day with a 9AM Italian lesson with Sara. She’s great, and we thoroughly enjoy her teaching style…very organized and interactive. Peter goes with me on Thursday afternoons, and this week we will be ready to leave directly from our class to go back to Carmagnola to have dinner with Luca, Lisa and Andy at the restaurant over Lisa’s family bar Queen Café. It should be fun. We thoroughly enjoy our time with them.
Peter had the morning off again, and he stayed home the rest of the day preparing for a test of 3 professors. I was fascinated to learn that this “huge” test was made up of 3 multiple choice questions from each of the 3 professors. I can’t wait to hear what Peter reports about this test when he takes it. I guess all the other students in his cohort were a little confused about it, too, because Charlotte opened her house for everyone to gather tonight for a study session. I hope they all do well. The test is tomorrow at 11 with 1 hour allowed, and they have class with another professor tomorrow afternoon.
While all that studying was going on, I walked again to the BigStore…this time to deposit Peter’s laundry. It won’t be ready until Saturday…just in time for him to leave for a weeklong stage (field trip) in Croatia and Bosnia next week. They are going to the place where his major professor has been doing research for 25 years, so it should be very interesting…at least they have received an email giving them directions about how to spot buried mines. I really didn’t like hearing that part.
Check out the pictures! There are 2 more purses like mine, but one is mostly black, and the other has lots of deep red! Don’t you like Peter’s new haircut? Check out today’s lunch – fresh spinach ravioli with veggies. YUM!
