THE GUNNS
Why was I surprised when, on the day after we arrived in
Atlanta, Peter found an “Ethical Meat” conference to attend on Emory
University’s campus? He was also attracted to the conference by Julie Shafer’s
being the one presenting. He had met her while we were in Italy, and she was
very interested in his course at UNISG. She hopes to arrange a time when Peter
and I can meet with her and her husband. I think she wants me to convince her
husband that he should encourage her to retire and take off for a year at a
UNISG Master’s program AND that he should go along for the fun of it. I hope
that happens. I could surely be convincing on that task!
I hitched a ride to Decatur, where Emory University is, to
visit with our friends Brandi, Richie, Maizie and Vivian Gunn. That was a
wonderful visit for me. We sent Richie out to get some barbecue, while the
girls and I looked at some pictures of Peter’s and my year in Italy. Brandi
came home a little late from her surgery training, but I was very pleased to
see her.
On the ride home, Peter was all excited about his
conference, and I was thrilled with my visit with the Gunns. We chatted about
our experiences the whole way…almost an hour!
Vi amo tutti,
Colleen
