Peter’s class got up early today to go with a special
professor to take pictures of the sunrise. They were graded later in the week
by setting up a photo shoot centered around some situation of marketing in the
food world that needed to be addressed. Peter and Charlotte worked together to
make the point that even the most delicious dishes can be photographed and
advertised incorrectly to make them seem disgusting. The professor giggled when
Charlotte, dressed as a 1950’s glamour girl, got blood all over her face eating
a favorite specialty dish in Bra…salsiccia di Bra - raw sausage - which was packaged as Lindt
candy. This professor was one of the highlights of the year.
I picked up John and Liz at the Malpenza Airport later this
morning, and it was so very good to catch up with them again. They visited us
in March, when we first arrived in Bra; and we were so glad they made a return
trip.
Aperitivo at Enzo and Lisa’s with all of us and Daniel was a
special event in preparation for a wonderful dinner for John and Liz tomorrow
night. All the men worked together to prepare fresh pasta, roasted vegetables
and many other delicious dishes. Maya from Brazil joined us, since she was the
only other student who had met John and Liz when they were first here. The highlight
of the meal was the 1934 bottle of wine, made by Enzo’s grandfather that we
opened to pair with Lisa’s scrumptious Chocolate Caprese Torta. We were anxious
when the cork entirely fell apart trying to get it out, but pleasantly
surprised to find that the wine simply needed to be strained through a clean
towel to separate the cork pieces and to be the perfect pair to the chocolate
cake. We felt very honored that Enzo had shared this particular bottle with us.
And a most wonderful time was had by all. Thanks, everyone!
What a great evening!
Baci, Colleen
