Let’s hear it for AFFAGATO!
That scrumptious nocciola gelato, drowned (that’s the meaning of
“affagato”) in coffee. Peter and I had recognized yesterday as a warmer day and
one that required an affagato. Then, today, our friend Lee-Anne asked me to
join her right after lunch for a coffee at Café Converso next door, and that
coffee turned into an affagato, too. It was time for dessert, right? Betcha can’t
eat just one, ya know???!!!
DINNER SOCIETY
In the evening, Peter and I walked with our next-door
neighbor Nora to attend a Dinner Society meal at our host David’s house 10
minutes away. David decided that the theme would be centered around fish, so
Peter brought an appetizer of smoked salmon, with lemon juice on crackers, and
two bottles of rose’. There were only 7 people attending, we thought, so when
12 showed up, we were not surprised that other friends had come. That made it
very nice, though.
The rest of the meal was fantastic, too – potato cakes with
cod, fish stew, and all sorts of yummy desserts, to mention a few of the
contributions. It was great to see some friends and meet some new people. We
talked and laughed for 2 ½ hours, then left Nora there and walked back home
happy from an enjoyable dinner at David’s.
Thanks, David, for hosting a lovely evening!
