WINTER WALK

I never get tired of clear, beautiful days when we can take walks and see Monviso looking beautiful and majestic (see picture) from the hills around Bra.  There are always some “critters” along the way, too. They either bark at us from behind fences, hoping we will take them along, or pass by in a sassy manner, like the one in the other picture. Today was even a little warmer than usual, which made us want to stay outside longer and take in the sun and the view.

PASTRIES FROM NATALIE IN PARIS

What a surprise! In the early afternoon, Peter got a message from Theo that she had returned from her weekend in Paris visiting Natalie, and she wanted to invite her 7 classmates and me to come and taste some pastries that Natalie made in a class she was taking in Paris. Sounded great to us; so, while Peter and I were on passeggiata (strolling around town in the early evening…everybody does it!), we found Jacqueline and others at Bar Chiavassa. They were not available to join Theo this evening; but in the meantime, Theo had extended her invitation to include any time tomorrow, too. They had important plans already tonight, but we decided tonight was the best time for us.

Theo finished her babysitting job and was home by 8pm, so we called Daniel and took him with us to Theo’s. He has just returned from a conference in Sweden that he enjoyed very much…even LEARNED A LOT there - super news, Daniel! He brought some Swedish cheeses, bread and dessert wine that went well with Natalie’s pastries. Lee Anne was already at Theo’s, and we all enjoyed so very much the braided sweet bread and several other tasty treats that Natalie had made in her  Parisian pastry class…what better place to take a pastry class!

Thanks for sending the goodies, Natalie; and, thank you for sharing them, Theo. We totally understand why you snarfed down the pan au chocolat on the way home and that other treat you mentioned!!! As Peter called it, that was our “travel tax!”
