Go, Karen!

Friday was a celebration day for my dear friend Karen, so I met her on Marietta Square for lunch. She had just come from an interview for a new job, and she was hired on the spot! Wow! I knew she would get the job, though. She’s a terrific teacher, and the job was perfect for her.

We had lunch at the Australian Bakery, and she told me the whole story about the interview…as she arrived, she learned that the principal was already reviewing her glog (a teaching blog) that she had used in a presentation recently at a conference.  This principal had called in an assistant administrator, another gifted teacher that would be working directly with Karen and another teacher who was finishing her end-of-year duties on the day AFTER the last day of work for the school year! They welcomed Karen with a WOW! Karen was glowing about their supportive welcome and the compliments about the work she was doing in merging technology into her instruction. She had them at “glog!”

Peachtree St Market

Saturday turned out to be different from what we expected. Peter had volunteered us to sell tickets to the Slow Food Ice Cream Social, then we would get in free at the afternoon event. That was all fine and good, but we had the wrong date for the Ice Cream Social…it’s next Saturday. We still had great fun selling tickets at the Peachtree St Market. I got a text message from Martha, Amanda’s mom, with a picture from the market, and I turned around to see Chet and her 10 feet away! We had a long, lovely chat with them. It’s always good to see them. We saw some vendors we know well, and we met some new people that were very interested in Peter’s year at UNISG and talking about Slow Food.

We’ll enjoy the Ice Cream Social for free next Saturday since we helped at the Slow Food booth today. I almost feel like I should pay extra just for the fun we had today!

By the way, Enzo and Lisa, I asked Peter who he would most like to be living near.  Immediately, he responded, “Enzo and Lisa!” We miss you two all the time!
