La Traversina!
Our favorite bed and breakfast, La Traversina, is wonderful,
as always. There’s just this one very small detail! On our first night here,
torrential rains started, and by the time they stopped near the end of our 2nd
day, there were mudslides that blocked every exit road from La Traversina and
broke some of the pavement off one of the exit roads. Now, in the middle of our
3rd day here, front loaders have come by to partially clear the
areas that were only mudslides, and there is great hope that we may actually
drive carefully through the scraped mud on the roads to freedom on our way to
Bra tomorrow.
The situation has reminded me of the ice storms in Georgia
when I was a child…no electricity, no leaving the house, survive on whatever is
in the freezer and cabinets to eat or drink, and spend your time with whoever
is in the house doing whatever you want to do. In our case, there have been 13
guests that have laughed through most of this “problem,” together with the
owners Rosanna and Domenico, and along with their son and his wife, Veejay and
Sumjana, only to realize that we have enjoyed our time at La Traversina very
much! As I used to say when the ice storm desperate situation ended…”Aw,
shucks!”
Maybe you all didn’t plan this “adventura,” but we are all certainly
making the best of it! Che bella!
