More La Traversina

I know you want me to quit raving on about La Traversina, but it is a little difficult when we think of it as vita in paradisio!

We’ve decided to stay another night here. Peter didn’t get enough break, so… here we are. Another lovely breakfast…peach tarts this time with cheese omelets were the fare. We walked it off afterwards, but decided to stay on the shady paths and away from the house that has the attack dog that Peter ran into on a walk once before. A swim afterwards got us ready for a trip to hunt down lunch. We had to go 30 minutes away to find a cafĂ© that was still open for lunch at 2pm! It was well worth it, though, and we had a lovely lunch outside under an umbrella in a small town nearby. Fortunately for us, the gelato shop was also just down the street…very handy!

We voted against stopping at the famous Outlet Mall on the way back that was having a sale. A nap was calling, and we voted for that.

It was lovely to Skype with Cati and Arne and the boys in the afternoon. We always love getting our H2 fix! They are really growing up fast. Peter and I have our tickets now for our trip to Atlanta in September for Kyle and Victoria’s wedding, and the Arne Johnsons are going to meet us there for 2 weeks. Harldur is to be a ring bearer, so he’ll be in his first wedding! I’m sure he will have fun with that!

Ah, dinner! How do they keep coming up with such delicious food??? At the table, we had two new families…a young couple from the Netherlands and a woman and her mother from Milano. Both groups were staying the rest of the week at La Traversina! We had a lovely time sharing pasta, turkey and spinach, and lemon pie. Savanna and Giorgio, friends of the owners Rosanna and Domenico were there, too, so it was a nice group. We had met Savannah and Giorgio before, and it was awfully good to see them. Vijay has been given the task of deciding where everyone sits at the table, so we were placed between the two new groups. We all got along well. As usual, everyone embraced the opportunity to enjoy people from other cultures.

What a super day!

Peter has discovered that he has to be back in Bra at 1:00 instead of 4:00pm for his class, so we had to hurry away after another delicious breakfast with Cinzia and Mama. Mama didn’t speak English, so I taught her 3 lessons…Good morning, Good night, and See you soon! She was very pleased with herself to be able to speak English at 87! She reminded me so much of my sweet mother.

We arrived in Bra in time for Peter to drop our things and me off at the apartment and take the car back to school by 1:00. I was glad to sort of get caught up with laundry and get a good walk to the BigStore to take Peter’s dry cleaning and pick up a few things at the store. I stopped at our favorite fresh pasta place on the way back so Peter would have an easy time fixing supper, since his class goes to 7PM tonight.  His schedule changes according to the availability of the professors who are visiting.

We miss La Traversina, but it’s good to be back home in Bra, too. We’ll be back there before long, I’m sure.

See you soon, La Traversina!
