Blue Ridge Mountains
Weekend
A weekend in the mountains with good friends is the perfect
way to end a busy Christmas and New Year’s season!
We were astonished at how quiet it was there. We could see
far, far away the trees and hills in the distance, but we never heard the
smallest sound, except an occasional owl or turkey. We were extremely pleased
with this and vowed to put some white noise on at night when we returned home
so we could not hear the road or construction noise that is regularly near our
Decatur home. We never even noticed that
noise until we were totally without any noise around!
We all had a simple weekend…prepare a meal for 2 hours, then
eat for 3 hours. Next, we might go for a walk in the woods up to the top of a
waterfall or go to the Mercier Orchard shop for Pink Lady apples, apple cookies
and scrumptious apple cider. Of course, by the time we returned from a jaunt
nearby, it was time to prepare another meal for 2 hours and eat for 3 more
hours. By then, it was bedtime for me, and with it so quiet we woke up very
late the next morning to start that delightful regimen all over again! What a
tough weekend, but somebody has to do it, right?
Thank you, Julie and Mike for inviting us and for bringing
Donata, too. It was a most memorable weekend…one that we definitely need to
repeat often!
