SFATL ANNUAL POTLUCK  MEETING AT KIMBALL HOUSE

You would think that 3 hours would be a long time to have lunch and a program, but everyone was having such a great time at our Slow Food Atlanta Annual Potluck Meeting at Kimball House Restaurant in Decatur that the time flew by.

Kimball House was the perfect venue for this gathering of over 50 people. They opened their restaurant to us during a time that the restaurant was usually closed, and they provided a cash bar to go with our potluck dishes. People brought only dishes that were local and organic, and everything was FANTASTIC. It was great fun to see old friends reunite and people make new friends with like-minded people.  Some farmers gravitated to other farmers. Some producers gravitated to visit with other producers. Everybody found somebody that they could connect with on some level.

As everyone finally served their plates and found a place to eat, Susan the president of Slow Food Atlanta started the meeting. There were so many people to thank for making this event happen so beautifully, and a recall of the events from last year took us down a fun memory lane. It was delightful, too, to see the receptive reactions of the people who had never been to a Slow Food function but wanted to know what it was all about. Many of those joined Slow Food before they left today.

The list of activities planned for 2014 was long and exciting, topped by an introduction to our Slow Food at the Table campaign that will include many, many potlucks in homes all over Atlanta. “Slow Food Lives Here” yard signs were provided to those who agreed to host a potluck. The program ended with a drawing for 4 gift certificates to Kimball House that were given to Slow Food members.

It was such a pleasant afternoon, and all of us are looking forward to a year of  interesting, fun and fascinating Slow Food Atlanta events! Thanks to all who made this wonderful event so successful.
