Italy Journal

I was so impressed this morning when I heard the church
bells all around town ringing congratulations for my sister-in-law Beth’s 30th
birthday. (The number of rings indicate the number of years, right?!) How thoughtful
of Bra, Italy, to remember your birthday in such a pronounced way, Beth!!!
It’s spring in Bra. Yesterday, everyone was out in the
streets with gelato, and today it’s even warmer, sunny, and only just a little
cool! AND, the Alps are in clear view…this hasn’t happened for several days of
foggy weather. This is the perfect time to be in Italy! We’ll remember that
when we start having our tours!
Tonight, we were invited to dinner at Elisabeth, S.J. and
Sara’s’ house for a wonderful meal. Sara had only arrived in town 5 minutes before
we came. We wanted to hear all about her internship at a pig farm in Ireland,
but we allowed her to get a good shower first. S.J. double booked by mistake,
and left us with a yummy bowl of orange sugar cookies. We forgive you, S.J.,
super cookies! Elisabeth was in charge…except that someone had turned off by
mistake the oven where the meal was cooking, so the main dish was raw when we
arrived. All was well in the end, though. It’s Italy! What else would you
expect! As Peter says, “Time is only a suggestion!” We had a great time with
great food and great companionship. The other “by mistake” issues were totally
forgotten.
Grazie mille,
Colleen
