I could hardly believe what I saw as I walked to the
BigStore this morning. It took my breath away. There was a high cloud ceiling,
so the Alps were in view under the clouds. What caught my eye was that the sun
was shining brightly through a break in the clouds in only one spot…directly at
Monviso, the highest mountain peak anywhere near here. It was an awesome moment
for me, and it started this day just right.
LAST SATURDAY SUPPER
Peter had a brainstorm today in the midst of discovering
that we have 34 coming for Saturday Supper tonight…ask the Grimaldi’s if they
have a large portable table that we could use for serving the food! Our good
friends and pasta makers, the Grimaldi’s, often have large groups at their
house for meals, and they were happy to offer the perfect solution…a huge board
with 2 saw horses that they use for serving, too. Valerio even delivered it to
our house this afternoon. We put a white sheet and a lovely tablecloth on it,
and no one knew the difference.
This Last Saturday Supper was extremely special. Some
students had friends and family in town, and we welcomed them to our event with
open arms. It was special that one of the staff at the University, Paolo,
joined us. The food was the usual FANTASTIC, including Kendall’s and my Pecan
Pie! It was a big hit! Thanks, Kendall!
It was late when the last ones left (to continue their own
party at Bar Veneria), but as we opened the door, Valerio and Ale were there
with a friend, all dressed up and going out with the others. They were teasing
us about being too loud. We missed them at the supper, but they were moving
into the apartment below us and couldn’t come. I’m sorry that we’re leaving
just as they are coming in. We would have liked to get to know them better.
We will miss all of you! PLEASE keep in touch!
Colleen
