CASAMATILDA WITH ANNA

The snow did not deter us from our visit to CasaMatilda today. We have always bought our CasaMatilda products (fruit juices, preserves, spreads, etc.) at the Dogliani artisan street market, but this time we wanted to show Victoria and Kyle  the farm. Anna met us at the shop and gave us a short tour of the facility, which includes B&B facilities for 14…lovely apartments. She told us the history of CasaMatilda and how she and her husband had made the decision to start this business because of their passion for growing things of the highest quality. We have always known the CasaMatilda products to be absolutely delicious!

We’ll see you again soon, Anna! We enjoyed our time with you.

FINOCCHIO VERDE WITH MARIO

For lunch, we wandered on through the hills to Finocchio Verde, where Mario and his staff have opened their B&B facilities for anyone who would like to help on the farm to stay free…. Mario is a cheese maker, again one who only provides the highest quality. He learned that taking care of his goats, sheep and now one donkey was a very lonely job, so this is the way he has added a social life to his work that he loves. We ate the exquisite 7-course meal that was provided there, and then Mario took us to see the animals in the barn. Eighty sheep and goats were having lots of fun getting their heads scratched and having their picture taken. Then, Mario opened the food bin, and the cacophony of noise that came from the animals was deafening. We laughed and laughed at those very well trained animals who knew well what that squeaky door meant!

Thank you, Mario, for a delightful meal and visit to your farm. We will definitely bring our tour groups to see your cheese making facility.

APERICHEESO AT GIOLITO’S WITH MARIA CHRISTINA

We were a little tired in the evening and realized that we almost planned too much for this day, but the Apericheeso at Giolito’s Cheese Shop would have been the last event we would have cancelled. We were glad we went with Maria Christina for the tour of the facility and cheese tastings…paired with wonderful wines, of course. As always, your food and hospitality were delightful! Thank you so very much!
