We decided to take Jim and Joan to La Morra today, and Jim
got some great pictures on the drive and the different overlooks. Then we went
to More e Macine Restaurant for lunch. As you can see, a good time was had by
all!
In the evening, the Russos Flavio and Nucci joined Jim and
Joan and us for a visit to the Nativity scene that Flavio and their niece
exhibited at their house. It was quite elaborate and impressive. Afterwards,
the Russos took all of us to the magnificent presepe at the church near their
house at the end of Via Victorio Emanuele II. There were scenes from Bra at
Christmas, and there were nativity scenes from Bethlehem. We were told that the
whole production took 2 months to assemble. They’ve been doing it each year for
20 years! We all went back to our house afterwards for aperitivo. It was a
delightful evening.

With my camera broken, I didn’t get to document our travels
to the mountain town we visited today. We had a great time riding the
funiculare to the top of the town and having lunch at the trattoria there.
There was a gorgeous church nearby, and we all enjoyed
visiting its extensive Christmas decorations.
Later in the day, Lisa and Enzo joined us for aperitivo that
looked a lot like supper…Enzo made a special Chocolate Caprese Cake for the
occasion.
We finished early, and left for Torino to spend the night at
the Jet Hotel, across the highway from the airport, where Jim and Joan and I
got our flight out Friday morning at 6:45.
Thanks for coming, Jim and Joan. And, thanks for driving us
to the airport, Peter. I’ll miss you while I’m in San Francisco!
