Mensa with Chef #1 DAVID SCABIN from Torino
We were so pleased that Emanuel asked us to meet him at the
Mensa (also called Academic Table) today for lunch. The place was all spruced
up, with new tables and chairs. The serving line was working well, too. David
Szantos (the professor who attended our dinner last night) was there, and we
invited him to join us, too.
The student chefs were on the sideline today because the
first professional chef Davide Scabin from Combal Zero in Turin was there with
his crew of 8 (!) to cook the student meals for the week. Notice the picture of
Maya and Jacqueline just “hanging out.” They said it was harder to stay out of
the way than it would have been to try to help, but there were plenty of
helpers that the chef had brought from Torino.
Our meal consisted of half an onion filled with beautiful
spaghetti, bread crusted guinea fowl on a smoking bed of herbs, French fries and
chocolate gelato with small pieces of candy. It was a gorgeous, delicious and
filling lunch.
Thank you, Emanuel, for inviting us to join you for lunch.
As always, we enjoyed our time with you.
Colleen
