WALKING WITH PETER
It was sunny and a beautiful day for a walk. One and 1/4
hours later, we returned home to overcast skies and colder temperatures. It was
supposed to rain today, but it never did.

APERITIVO WITH
ALBERTO
We had a joyous time at Alberto’s house tonight at his
5-hour aperitivo! Peter had some uncooked pasta, and I found an irresistible
stacked tiramisu cake at the bakery, so we ate long and well. We asked Alberto
if we could invite Lee Anne because we knew all of hers and Peter’s cohort was
gone. He was happy to include her, and he invited another friend of his, too,
Valeria from his work at Slow Food who has recently changed jobs to now work at
the university organizing new courses. We had such a nice time.
As the evening progressed, we discovered that Valeria was
willing to share languages with us. She was very excited when I asked Alberto
(friends call him “Nell!”) if he knew anyone that might be interested in swapping
languages with us. Peter and I are very glad we have found someone that is
interested in doing this. She is also someone that we can work with whenever we
are here in Bra in the future. Sounds like a perfect plan to me!
Alberto’s a wealth of information, and Lee Anne benefitted
from his knowledge of the cheesemakers in this area. He is going to introduce
her to 3 nearby cheesemakers he knows, with the hope that one of them will
allow her to do her internship at his/her farm. She’s very interested in learning
how to make cheese.
As we left Alberto’s, he asked Peter if he could leave some
food for us tomorrow because he plans to be gone for 5 days. Of course, Peter
was glad to oblige his kind offer. Thanks, Alberto, we truly enjoyed our time
and food with you. Thank you again for including Lee Anne, and we really
enjoyed meeting Valeria, too.
Baci, Colleen
