Sara, our former tutor, called to say she was next door at
Bar Converso, so Peter and I joined her for coffee. Sara was there to advertise
for her new company, which happens to be the gas and electric company for our
house. A man was with her, who dressed up like a large drop of water. She
called him her puppet! It was good to see Sara. We’ve missed her. We talked
about getting together soon for another cena di pirati (pirate dinner)! Hopefully,
we can do it soon.
I had arranged to take a long walk with Shona today; so,
after coffee, I met her at our house next door to Bar Converso. We had solved
most of the world’s problems and then some by the time we returned 1 ½ hours
and 5 miles later, but both of us were dismayed and horrified by the massacre
at the elementary school in Connecticut. I received a wonderful letter from Fr.
Jim about that, with a perfect prayer for the occasion. I shared that
information with Shona as we walked. We make a good walking pair.
Peter took a break from his paper writing this afternoon,
and we went to the Christmas Bash sponsored by FC10 (the most recent – started
in November - Masters class to enter the university). They are definitely
getting the hang of things if they are already hosting a big party at the
Gastronomic Society.
I had ordered another of Mara’s delicious nocciola cakes to
take to our dinner with Sarah tomorrow night, so we picked it up on the way
back from the Gastronomic Society. This tasty cake has gotten to be a really
scrumptious habit! Get ready, Jim and
Joan, you will be the next to try it out. We found it extremely wonderful with
small little bites of Baci (dark chocolate medallions with nocciola crunched up
in them…uh YUM!).
We certainly are enjoying our Christmas tree you loaned us,
Enzo. Thanks again for adding to our Christmas spirit.
Felice Natale!
Colleen
