MY ITALIAN MOMENT
At our church today, I had an Italian moment! Near the end
of the service each week, the minister in our church routinely calls to the
front for a blessing anyone in the congregation who has a birthday or
anniversary. He makes that announcement and gives the blessing, and everyone
claps for them. Well, today was the day that our friend Karen went to the front
for her birthday blessing. In the middle of this part of the service, I heard
behind me a little Hugo-type-one-year-old voice say, “Nonna! Nonna!” That is my
grandmother name, and I almost jumped up and went back there! He got louder and
louder, and his mother could not make him stop. Finally, his mom took him out
in the aisle where he had a straight shot to run to his Nonna Karen. She
grabbed him up in her arms, and he stayed with her during the rest of the
blessings…quiet and satisfied with his nonna. The service never slowed down. It
is commonplace there to let the children be a part of the service!! Everyone
smiled!
MEMORIAL DAY!
Tomorrow, in the U.S., is a special patriotic day to honor
the men and women who have died while serving in the armed services. The last
Monday in May each year is a federal holiday called Memorial Day, and it is
also considered the beginning of the summer holidays in most schools. Guess who
has spent the weekend at the pool? The students in our neighborhood look
forward to this weekend, when school is out and the pool opens in our
neighborhood. PPPPAAAARRRTTTYYY!
PICS OF KID’S FUN
I’m sending on to you pictures I have received from some
others (thanks, Arne and Peter) of our grandchildren enjoying a camping trip
and Monica with us at Serenbe. I hope you will enjoy them.
Ciao! Ciao!
Colleen
