BRANDI’S GRADUATION
PARTY
It was worth the 45-mile trip to Decatur to attend Brandi’s
Graduation party! She has finished her course work for her MD from Emory
University now, and she was offered a residency at the Emory University
Hospital. She is specializing in emergency care, so I hope she gets to spend
her residency in the emergency room there. Her husband Richie and two daughters
Vivian and Mazie are thrilled that they don’t need to move away from their home,
friends and school for now. We are, too!
We knew a few of the people at her party (70 were invited).
Brandi’s mom Katie and her husband Pete were there. Peter and I had fun in the kitchen with Katie
trying to keep the cake and chili from burning, and Peter and Pete had great
conversations, too. Also, my Cati’s college roommate Hannah and her family were
there. Guy is such a little cutie, and she’s pregnant now with another little
boy. We did meet so many lovely friends of Brandi and Richie, and it felt a lot
like one of our Sunday Suppers in Bra, Italy - very informal and welcoming. We
even had an invitation to come to dinner at Lisa and Dave’s house with the
Gunns in the near future. We’re looking forward to that.
There was plenty of
good food, and the children especially enjoyed that the desserts were out on
the table from the very beginning. As you can imagine, most of them were gone
before the chili was even served! Everything was delicious.
The Gunn’s apartment was not large enough for 70 people to
be in it, and the party was designed for the children to play outside. That
worked fine until the rain started…well, actually, it worked fine while it
rained, too. I wished for a picture of Vivian, who was outside when she was told
that it was raining, and she just shook her head with a BIG smile and raised
her hands high to take in the rain! The adults moved in and out at will. The
drinks were kept on the front lawn, so it was easy to keep the group spread
out.
Thank you, Brandi and Richie, we certainly did enjoy
celebrating with you and so many of your wonderful friends. We’re excited about
getting together with you again soon at Dave and Lisa’s house!
Ciao, ciao!
Colleen
P.S. Cati, Brandi wanted you to notice her GORGEOUS “new”
blouse from her favorite consignment shop! As you can tell, it look fabulous on
her!
