Change of Plans

After such a wonderful travel day into the mountains yesterday, Peter and I decided not to go to Trentino today. The weather there is supposed to get really nasty for hiking, and we think we will discover other fascinating parts of Piemonte that we have missed.  Our friend and previous Italian instructor gave us a short list of places, too. That will help a lot. Cinzia is a really sweet person and knows lots about the region.

Peter and I searched out a lunch spot with a breeze, and had a small lunch at Boccobuona, just around the corner from us. The weather’s hot, and Peter rightfully is refusing to cook. We’re still eating very well, as you can imagine.

We are looking forward to lunch with Lisa and Enzo in their new house tomorrow. Enzo’s son is coming, too, so that will be extra nice.

Lunch at Lisa and Enzo’s New House

I had no idea who was saying my name from behind me this morning on my walk. When I turned around, there was Shona from Peter’s cohort. I was shocked to see her out running, because she had a bad fall on her bicycle 2 months ago and has been having all sorts of difficulty with movement since then. She told me she saw a doctor and was doing lots of yoga lately. Go yoga! Now she is being very careful to listen to her body. If it starts to hurt, she cuts back on running. She walked with me for an hour and 40 minutes around a path I took with Rossella one time. It was good to get caught up with her and to hear all about her project with the Singali people in Torino and Bra. I gave her the honey that we got as a thank you for watering our plants, and she went on about her day.

Lunch with Lisa and Enzo in their new house was a traditional Italian meal, according to Enzo. A lovely melon and prociutto appetizer, followed by wonderful pasta, then scrumptious pork with salad, and watermelon for dessert. It was just right and delicious on such a warm day. Enzo’s son Daniele and Lisa’s daughter Alice were there, too, and it was delightful getting to know both of them better. We learned that they both had the same birthday, which they enjoy.

Thanks for a super lunch, Enzo and Lisa.
