HOME ALONE
Before Peter left for today’s Malga, Peter and I had a long conversation with Mayor Sandro at breakfast. He told us all about the origination and history of the malgas in Trentino. Peter and I both took good notes so we can share the information on our tour groups later.
MALGOLO THE CAT
Before he left, Peter took me to a farmacia , then he was on his way. I decided to take a walk and was happy to run across the playful kitty that we had seen earlier. I named him Malgolo, after this town, and I enjoyed my time with him. I hope you enjoy the pictures.
I got caught by rain later in the day on my way back from another walk, and Cecilia came running down the road to me with an umbrella. She didn’t want my cast to get wet, and she knew I was nearby in the rain. What a sweet lady she is! Cecilia was also concerned about Peter being out on a mountain somewhere, but I assured her that he had called and was in his car driving home.
Peter reported another fine time at Malga Castrin and Malga Lauregno. Fortunately, the lady of the malga where he was when it started to rain hard, finally gave him a ride to his car at the bottom of the mountain on her way to the grocery store. What luck!
At dinner, I taught Mayor Sandro the word “Scrumpdillyicious.” He has very good English skills, but this word confounded him. A few days ago, I told his Mama (77 and worikng in the restaurant every day) that I thought she was tired of hearing me say how good, buona, buonissimo, etc,. the food was here. She assured me that she never got tired of hearing that and neither did her 4 grown children that work there with her, especially chef Mario. Still, I decided to be more creative with my compliments. I finally confessed to Mayor Sandro that scrumpdillyicious was a made-up word that I heard in a movie. He was relieved that at least it was something good to say. He had never heard the word scrumptious either.
Baci,
Colleen
