I only waited 40 minutes at Vodofone this morning for one customer to finish so I could pay my bill. Che bella!
We finished moving some of Alice’s things to Enzo and Lisa’s new house, and they had packed up the kitchen before we came. So, everyone enjoyed the rest of the afternoon in Ella’s pool. It was a very hot day, and we welcomed the swim. Afterwards, we shared some cheese that Ella had given Enzo and Lisa, and we put honey on it to go with belinis for aperitivo. It was good for all of us to pretend life was normal for the afternoon.

I was so pleased to see that the sky was overcast this morning. My walk was more pleasant than it had been in the last 5 days. I went by the car wash to learn that it is still open, even during this time when most people leave on holiday. I also asked the good friends at Hotel Cavalieri if they would like to have the large plant that Enzo doesn’t want to move. They said yes, they would be happy to come and get it next week.
It has been 2 days since we had gelato, so early in the afternoon Peter and I went on a desperate search to find a gelato shop open. We were shocked and dismayed when the first 4 places we went were closed, but when Peter went into a café for espresso, he found that they also had gelato. Saved by gelato!
Lisa and Enzo took Alice to IKEA in Torino this morning, and then delivered her to the train station there to go home to Milan. When they returned, they came by to deliver the zip lock bags we asked them to get for us. Why would the BigStore not carry zip lock bags? We appreciated the delivery, and they were glad to get the news that the plant would be used by the hotel. Tomorrow, the movers are coming early, and when they have things in the new house, we will jump in to help unpack. Because we live on the 2nd floor with no elevator, the moving truck is going to get things out of the house through the windows with a forklift! Should be interesting to watch!
The case of the FOUND keys has been solved. It seems that Shona, in Peter’s cohort, was watering our flowers while we were away and left the keys to Anna’s car under our doormat but didn’t tell us. Why??? Anyway, the custodian of the condominium complex found them under our mat and put them out in the open for someone to claim. We were on vacation while this was going on, and Enzo didn’t claim them, and the elderly lady that lives next door put them in front of our door. We found them there, but didn’t know whose they were, so we put them on a step. There they stayed for 4 days. Finally, today, Ana called us to ask if we had her keys that Shona was supposed to leave under our mat. Case closed. Ana came by to get the keys when she arrived in Bra tonight. Curious chain of events, don’t you think? It’s amazing that her keys were still there, although there are only the 3 apartments on our level, so not many people come by. W don’t have any trouble with theft here anyway.
When Ana came for the keys, her sister Audrey with her boyfriend Jullian, and another of Ana’s friends came with her. They are visiting for a short while. We had a lovely after dinner impromptu apertivo and talked until dark. When they left, they took our small fan to help with the heat. We were glad to share it with them.
I hope everyone else is having an interesting summer, too!
