Vacanza di Malgas
We both woke up tired today. My Swan was itching all night, so I was uncomfortable and flopping around, which meant that Peter was having a difficult time resting, too. As we left the house ready to visit another malga site, we took some pictures of the family that runs Albergo Nerina. There’s Mama with me. The other one has the four brothers and sisters, as well as Maria Pia, Sandro’s wife. What a happy group they are.
We never got to the malga today. We finally decided to give the malgas a vacation.
Instead, we went down Val di Sole and up in the mountains to a ski resort Madonna di Campignoli. It had lovely views and beautiful spaces, but it was too touristy for us, so we found Albergo Gerzainella halfway down the mountain. The judge of a good place to eat is if there are lots of workers’ trucks in the parking lot, and we had a great pasta and salad lunch.
We have learned to love the sounds of the cow bells, so Peter found a hardware store on the way back that sold them, and I bought a few. Now, what do you think I should do with those? My mother used to call us to dinner by ringing a cow bell…hmmm!
We stopped and got some antihistamine for me to take tonight to calm the itching. I sure do hope it works! I also got some metal hanging wire to scratch inside the cast in the daytime. Tomorrow is my doctor’s checkup. So, I’ll ask him if these ideas don’t work.
We hate to leave the sweet people here at Albergo Nerina, but tomorrow we will go back to Trento, and Peter will visit some malgas nearer there.
Thank you, Mama, Sandro, Cecilia, Loridana, Mario and Maria Pia! You have been wonderful to us!
Colleen
