Our main purpose in coming back to Bra now was to help Lisa and Enzo get ready for their move next Monday. We were pleased when they accepted our offer to help. Peter and Enzo removed a chandelier from the kitchen ceiling. Lisa and I cleaned the prisms, and Enzo and Peter installed it again in the new house. We hope they will continue to use their Morich moving crew this week. We are excited for them to have their new house, but we are sad to see them move, even though it is an easy 10 - minute walk to the new place. We went with them again to see it while we were at her parents’ house this week. It’s finished and beautiful and just down the hill from Ella and Giovani, Lisa’s mom and dad.

On my walk this morning, I accomplished 2 important tasks I mailed some things from the main post office, but I misunderstood the directions to get a number. When it was my turn, the person at the desk told me to go back and get another number by pushing P for poste. Then, I waited some more for my turn. Che bella! I did very well with my Italian once I was in the right part of the post office. Their post offices have a financial part with ATM and bill paying availability. Sounds like a smart way to use an existing institution that is being hit hard by internet communication, doesn’t it?
The other task I accomplished was to find the x-ray department in the hospital and make an appointment to get my cast off in two weeks. It was more tricky, but I had the doctor’s orders from the Cles hospital, so we got that done quickly.
Peter and I invited Lisa, Alice and Enzo over for dinner tonight, so Peter and I shopped for food at the Friday farmer’s market. We still haven’t bought groceries, and the fresh vegetables and roasted chicken will be luscious after a hot day of moving. Peter finished all of the preparation for dinner while I swept the floor, straightened up the house and set the table. We were all ready by 2 to help with the two last chandeliers next door.
Lisa’s daughter Alice (ah LEE chay) was still on summer vacation from her job, and she was at Lisa’s packing up her room, too. She told me she was very sad about leaving this house, even though she likes her bedroom in the new house. She lives in Milan now, but she still feels like Bra is home.
Our dinner with Alice, Lisa and Enzo was delightful. Alice and Enzo wrote on my cast. Others had started that at the barbecue this week. It felt a little like a going away party, but ‘I’m going to make myself stop thinking like that. They are going to be just around the corner!
